Burcu Akarçay
Contemporary Figurative Oil Painter
My artistic practice explores the dynamic intersection between light, human form, and spatial emotion through the medium of oil painting. Grounded in figurative impressionism, my work frequently focuses on the subtle nuances of physical movement, inner contemplation, and raw human expression often captured through subjects like ballet dancers, portraits, and expressive organic forms.
This juxtaposition between structural foundation and spontaneous textural layering reflects my interest in the balance between discipline and emotional freedom. Light serves as both subject and narrative engine in my compositions, driving contrast, defining form, and creating evocative atmospheric depth.
Trained at Uludağ University (Department of Fine Arts Education) and enhanced by specialized studies at the London College of Fashion, my background informs a keen sensitivity to garment movement, texture, and anatomical silhouette. My goal is to contribute to the international contemporary figurative movement by capturing fleeting moments of grace and psychological interiority, translating intimate human experiences into universal visual narratives.
